mathsrevision.net Searchable revision site.

MathsNet - revision for all AS and A2 modules - a great site and very easy to use.

SOS Teacher Extra Maths help from the BBC.


Use MyMaths to help you with your maths. There are a range of games, lessons and tests to help you with your revision.
Get the login and password from your teacher.

Maths Frameworking This is a temporary link to the MathsFrameworking materials. Harper Collins are in the process of updating their website. There are lots of good materials on this site but we won't provide links, beyond this level, until the final address for the site has stabilised.

Reference Sites

Nrich, Gifted and Talented Website This has a maths section which usually features a challenge puzzle or two.

Plus Maths. Online maths magazine run by Cambridge University. The articles change monthly and it has a searchable archive.

Cut-the knot-org This is a huge collection of maths puzzles. Some are more accessible than others. A site for the enthusiast.

Mathworld Home Page. This is a huge site containing notes and examples on all branches of maths.

Galileo.org A large site with a variety of puzzles, help and advice.

Math Academy. Huge site full of reference articles, puzzles and games.

Infinity Introduction to the whole concept of infinity. Download it and read it ofline.

Fractals & Chaos

These sites deal specifically with fractals, chaos theory and related topics. Some of the general reference sites will also have material that you might find interesting.

The Chaos Theory Hyper Textbook This is a very good site which has a thorough look at the maths involved and contains some superb images.

Amazons Homepage Amazons is a chess variant which is extremely easy to learn but very difficult to master. It is a very simple yet very satifying game.

Be sure to look in the fractals and chaos section as many of the websites there contain superb images.

maths2art.co.uk Maths2art seeks to use maths to do art and bring art into maths. The site has a good set of links. Many of the activities invlove pencils, paper and colouring in.(ie NOT computers)

Moonstar.com This site has a whole collection of computer generated images based on the Fibonacci series.

University of Surrey This is a collection of pages which bring maths, art and biology together. The pages consider the growth and structure of plants and flowers. There are some stunning images on this site.

Japanese Temple Geometry This is a Scientific American article on the beautiful mathematical art to be found in Japanese temples. This page gives the history whilst the link below has a collection of the puzzles.

If you want to install Logo on your own computer at home then go to the www.softronix.com website to download a version like the one that we use in school.

Logo Foundation The main reference site for Logo. There is a huge library of material to be found on this site.

Troy Stephen's Introduction to Logo. This site provides a very good introduction to Logo. Logo is a very simple programming language which you use to draw pictures. The images on this page were made using the program on this site.

rLogo This is another Java based Logo implemantation which comes with a large amount of reference material. A good reference site.

AJLogo Homepage. This page shows how far Logo has progressed.

Software

Flo's Freeware This is the site that you can download Notepad2 from. This is an excellent text editor which is very useful for programming in Logo, Java, CSS or HTML.

GIMP The GIMP is a freeware art package. It is very powerful having many of the features of certain, more expensive, programs.

java.sun.com This is the download page for the Java standard development kit. This is essential for programming in Java. This site contains all the resources that you need to get started in Java.

www.sketchup.com Google SketchUp. Excellent 3D modelling program. 19MB free download. You can build a castle and then import it to Google Earth!
